We're One of the Best!... And one of the best kept secrets…
Sioux Valley Hospital USD Medical Center was ranked as one of the best hospitals in the nation in three areas, Gynecology, Endocrinology and Urology, and SVC OB-GYN, Ltd makes major contributions to each of those areas. Only 3% (176 out of 5189) of the hospitals in the nation received the ranking in at least one of the 16 specialty areas. The ranking was based upon several factors, including reputation, technology and patient community.
To score in the reputation area, the medical center needed to be recognized by randomly sampled physicians across the nation – our reputation is building, but we're still not nationally re-known. That lack of recognition, however, just meant we had to score all the higher in technology and patient community. Indeed, we received 9/9 points in technology, largely due, we think, to our competence in gynecological surgery (including robotic and pediatric), our advanced reproductive technologies, including In-Vitro Fertilization and our state-of-the-art Ultrasound Diagnostic Center. We also ranked 13/14 in patient/community – providing a wide array of services for women, including genetic counseling with the state's only master's level genetic counselors, psychology and information on resources through the Women's Resource Center.
