Sioux Valley Hospital has received national attention because it is on the cutting edge of medicine, one of at least 100 hospitals nationwide now using robots for hysterectomies.
"We are to the point where we are having so many requests for robotic surgery that we have had to acquire a second robot," said Gynocologic Oncologist at Sioux Valley Dr. Marie Bell.
Here's how it works. The doctor manipulates two levers, sort of like a video game. Every movement is replicated by tiny robot hands, which, unlike human hands, can rotate 360 degrees.
