Ultrasound

Sanford Clinic Maternal-Fetal Medicine Ultrasound Department includes six ultrasound rooms with state-of-the-art technology for routine and advanced antenatal diagnostic and interventional procedures in normal and high risk obstetric patients. These procedures include comprehensive surveys of the fetal anatomy to detect the presence of structural anomalies of the brain, heart, kidneys, limbs and other organs.

We also test for fetal well-being with biophysical profile ultrasound, color imaging and doppler. Three-dimensional (3D) ultrasound is also available. In addition, screening diagnostic and interventional ultrasound are performed for general gynecologic oncology and reproductive endocrinology patients.

Our facility is currently staffed by ten diagnostic medical sonographers (technologists), who are dedicated and highly trained in the field of ultrasound. All are either board certified or board eligible as Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographers. To be registered by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) means our sonographers have consistently demonstrated professional standards, as well as achieved a level of competency in technical procedures and patient care. Our facility is accredited by the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM), this association is dedicated to promoting the safe and effective use of ultrasound. Accreditation means our practice has met nationally accepted standards and has demonstrated consistent excellence in patient care. Our number one priority is effectively and safely meeting the needs of our patients.
